Safety Management Training Academy (SMTA), is a comprehensive overview of the science of safety taught by safety industry experts.  The program is designed to give attendees the necessary knowledge and skills to implement safety practices within their own program or agency using the same language as their colleagues everywhere. 


2017 Scholarship Recipient

Graduates Receive

  • SMTA Certificate of instruction verifying completion of the course content
  • U.S. DOT Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) Risk-Manager Trainer Certificate
  • OSHA Training and 'wallet card' verifying completion of course content taught by OSHA authorized instructors
  • Full tuition, study materials, room and board for five nights, meals

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be currently involved in medical transport as either an aviation or healthcare related professional.
  • Committed to improving safety in the medical transport community
  • A member in good standing with the IAFCCP
  • Commit to complete SMTA coursework for years one and two

Instructions

  1. Complete Application Form below
  2. Upload a two-part essay
  3. Upload Letter of Support from your supervisor
  4. Upload your CV or Resume
  5. All the above must be completed on or before December 31, 2017.

Essay Guidelines

  • Essay A - State your definition of "safety" including an assessment of the primary factors affecting medical transport safety.
  • Essay B - State how you intend to use the education you receive to improve safety within your organization or the industry as a whole.

Formatting

  • Essay word count for each essay should be at least 250 words and not to exceed 750 words.
  • Double-spaced lines
  • Recommended font types:  Arial, Courier, Times New Roman
  • Indicate the essay question being answered at the beginning of each essay
  • Footer on each page must contain page number, applicant name and program/agency name
  • Save as one PDF document that includes both essays
